About Us

Educational Athletics was developed by Tony Hemmelgarn.  He has been the Director of Athletics at Turpin High School for the past 12 years where he leads a program that is made up of over 65 coaches, 50 teams and 800 student-athletes. 

Hemmelgarn has written several articles for newspapers and magazines.  He has presented at the National and Ohio Athletic Director Conferences.  He has jointly worked to plan local seminars for high school athletic directors as well as programs for coaches, kids and parents.  He would like to thank the thousands of student-athletes, coaches, parents and athletic directors who have all played a role in fostering his passion for helping others.

He is married to Kristine and they have 4 children.  All are active in athletics, each with their own strengths and varied levels of competitive success.  He has enjoyed watching them grow, and though difficult at times, has learned to "turn them over" to the coach at hand.  Sport is full of life lessons and these lessons can be learned at any age.
